In Lunar RS-2, we’ve taken the core skirmish gameplay of Lunar and applied a narrative story of survival for 1-4 players.
Players will take the role of a stranded astronaut whose shuttle transport was hit right before landing by the largest solar flare in known history. With almost all systems fried, pilots dead, and an unknown ‘landing’ zone making up your home base, you must embark out into the gray void in hopes of finding enough bits of working equipment to build a working transmitter in order to let someone, anyone, know that you’re alive. Along the way you’ll encounter other survivors and bases, some friendly, some not.
What is different in RS2?
Using a hex-style board with randomized tiles, players must explore the areas around them while gathering resources and building components vital to their survival and ultimate rescue. While exploring the map, players will encounter and fight enemies in small Lunar Skirmishes, with the enemy’s decisions and actions dictated by a series of factors, including some actions that may have been taken by the player.
RS2 is a long-form game that will usually consist of a series of sessions designed to be about an hour+ each. While the base gamemode is one of survival and communication, other modes and difficulty levels promise an even greater amount of replayability. Instead of survival, maybe your mission is escape, or even conquest!
This is a Rules Supplement, and is designed to be used in conjunction with the core Lunar game, hazard dice, tokens, cards, and units.
While the Lunar 2-player Starter Set is enough to utilize these rules, other factions, cards, and models may be used as well, allowing players to take full advantage of their Lunar Collection.
